GREAT PHOTOGRAPHERS: BILL CUNNINGHAM NEW YORK

For over 50 years, the late great New York Times photographer Bill Cunningham took candid pictures of people near his New York studio home above Carnegie Hall, documenting how they dress and assembling a unique portrait of fashion, society and changing times. Known for being private—even monk-like— this documentary shows us the man behind the photos, chronicling his incredible working life and career and acquainting you with the perspective of an artist perpetually in search of beauty.

Admission includes a post-screening discussion with Paul Roth, director of the Ryerson Image Centre.

EVENT | Working Client Direct : Pricing and Strategies

CAPIC Vancouver presents a panel discussion and workshop about the challenges of working directly with clients, as opposed to with an intermediary such as an agency. Lead by the brilliant photography producer and rep, Lisa Kaulback, we will discuss such topics as how to best communicate with direct clients, strategies for educating your clients (or not) around areas like licensing, and other considerations. We will explore quoting and talk real numbers.

Following the panel discussion, attendees will be broken into groups to create a quote for presented assignment, which will then be shared, compared, and analyzed by our panel.

Connections et Alternative Photo Services travaillons avec CAPIC pour offrir aux membres des différentes chapitre l’occasion de se réunir et d’exposer leur meilleur travail photographique. Notre mandat est de connecter les photographes entre eux ainsi que les conservateurs, les galeries et les collectionneurs. Cette exposition de groupe de 20 personnes sera présentée dans trois villes canadiennes, Vancouver, Toronto et Montréal. Chaque photographe aura deux oeuvres dans l’exposition, 16×20 “environ dans des cadres de 20×24”. Les photographes ont la possibilité de fournir leurs propres impressions, ou de faire imprimer leur travail par Bob Carnie d’Alternative Photo Services. Dans tous les cas, nous encadrerons en utilisant nos cadres en bois noir qui contiennent du verre AR. Une fois que les expositions son terminé, l’impression et le mat seront retournés au photographe. Il n’y a pas de thème spécifique pour cette exposition. Plutôt nous demandons vos deux meilleures images qui peuvent fonctionner comme un diptyque.
