M5, a festive event to showcase the talent of 5 young photographers – second edition

18/09/2015

Marsan photography college is proud to invite you to the second edition of the M5 annual exposition. An evening of celebration for 5 new faces in the photography community. These 5 students impressed the teachers with their talent, creativity and dedication during their time at Marsan. The college wishes to share their passion and work with professional photographers, artistic directors and collector in a one night only event that will be held in a gorgeous gallery located in Montreal’s old port. Don’t miss out the opportunity to be among the first to see their tremendous contributions to our art, for you will hear about them a lot in the near future!

In an effort to value constant evolution of our beloved medium, as well as promoting excellence and dedication in scholar pursuit, it is of crucial importance to value and celebrate young talent who will shape the high photographic standards of tomorrow.

The exposition will be held October 8th, at Théâtre Rialto, salle Piccolo at 5:30 pm ET.

Applied Arts 2015 Student Winner, Charné Baird

03/09/2015

Congratulations to Charné Baird who won a prize in the Applied Arts 2015 Student Awards run by Applied Arts Magazine, which rewards the best student images creators in the industry.

Charné has always loved the smell of fresh herbs, rosemary being her favorite. She wanted to create a series of images that a person could look at and be inspired by while preparing a meal. She wanted viewers to look at the images and feel as if they could actually touch and smell the fresh herbs.

Celebrating Our Roots on World Photography Day 📷✨

Long before digital sensors, studio flash units, or modern editing software, pioneers across Canada were laying the groundwork for our industry.

Today, we’re looking back at three legendary Canadian image creators who built this craft from coast to coast:

🏛️ William Notman (Montreal, QC)
🌊 Wallace R. MacAskill (Halifax, NS)
❄️ Geraldine Moodie (Western & Northern Canada)

Their dedication to the medium paved the way for professional standards, commercial artistry, and community that CAPIC members carry forward today.

Thank you for being part of this ongoing story!
